My name is Shaun and I’m the founder and editor of Homesightful.
I’ve been building houses and doing home improvement most of my life. My grandfather was a builder and I worked for him in the summer as a teenager. I helped my dad build two of our homes when I was growing up. I’ve also owned a small construction company doing high-end custom carpentry.
My wife and I live in the Midwest and always have a home improvement project in progress. We both love creating a healthy, comfortable place to live and raise our two boys. Our current project is a half-bathroom remodel.
A couple of years ago I had a serious health scare. I had trouble breathing. It took a while to figure out the problem. It turns out I had developed some allergies. In the process of resolving the issue we made some significant changes to our home to improve the air and water quality and made some home improvements that removed some toxic materials. We now have a beautiful home that is healthy – and my symptoms have disappeared.
Making your home safe to live in is important. And designing a space that is more comfortable and inspiring is hugely rewarding. I’ve learned a lot of things along our journey and Homesightful is where I share the things I’ve discovered.
